    Hop & Jaunt Design Logo

The minimalistic striped logo is what we use for our design + marketing business. The ornate crest is for our travel blog, and the ideas that started it all.

    Travel Yourself

Cailin O’Neil from Travel Yourself needed an image that spoke volumes about who she was and what she did. She had the image in her mind and trusted Hop & Jaunt to deliver! Now you can see her logo on everything from her business cards to her fun travel movies!

    All Star Reports

Abby and Dinah are two journalists who started their own company scooping celebrity news. They needed a sharp site from which editors and journalists could learn about them and contact them. Due to a story being published we only had a week to design and launch the site, but it came out a winner! Check out All Star Reports for yourself!

    The Jungle Princess

We were approached by Abby from The Jungle Princess to help re-design her blog to better suit her style. Her blog is about a city girl who moves to a small village in Costa Rica, so we started off by designing a cute header image that captures the core of her story. From there we added custom designed icons that keep the city-meets-jungle theme. Check out her blog here.

Show Me Your NY! TBEX 10 T-Shirt Give Away!!

    TBEX 10 NY

Calling all travel junkies, bloggers, writers, or dreamers who will be heading to New York this summer to be a part of the Travel Blog Exchange ‘10 conference! Hop & Jaunt has just opened up our travel-inspired T-shirt store and wanted to share the fun with you!

Here’s the story: We’ve NEVER been to New York!! I know, I know, but it’s the truth. And since we’re headed up for the TBEX 10 we’ve also decided to spend an extra week in N.Y. to explore. This is where you come in. We need some input on what to see and what to do while in the Big Apple. And in exchange you might just pick up some swank gear in exchange.

    The Competition:

Show Me Your NY! Top 5 UNIQUE Things To See Or Do In N.Y.

    How To Enter:
Enter your top 5 UNIQUE things to see or do while in N.Y. in the comment section below. If you’ve been through our blog you know we are pretty much open to anything, so don’t hold back!

We’ll select the top five entries that we think are the most original and what we’d love to see or do. These top five people will be posted on a poll on our Facebook page where everyone can vote for their favorite! The deadline for posting comments will be June 12th (Aly’s birthday) and then polling will be opened up until to the 15th. This should give us enough time to get the winner’s size and get it shipped.

Though it’s mostly for people interested in TBEX anyone can enter. After all this shirt manages to convey three messages at once, and you might like it for any of the three reasons: I Heart N.Y., I Heart TBEX, or I HEART Hop & Jaunt :)

Looking forward to seeing what suggestions you have for a unique N.Y. experience!!

Hop & Jaunt’s Funky Travel Store Now Open!!

    Hi everyone!!

We’ve just launched our travel gear store! It’s been a creative outlet and fun side project for us and we wanted to share what we’ve made with you.

Alien Attack!Alien Attack! Be Prepared With A Cool Tee

You will probably notice right off the bat, with the aliens and retro model shots, that this is not a typical travel store. The truth is this is our playground that we want to invite you in. While traveling we were disappointed with both the overall quality and lack of originality in the destination souvenir t-shirts. So while out roaming about, we began sketching ideas for shirts we wished we could have gotten. This site is where we will be showcasing the designs.

The store is a work in progress, we still have a sketchbook full of ideas and designs to put in. But we’re eager to get the feedback from our fellow traveler what they think! We are creating a contest (posted shortly) for our fellow travel bloggers where we will be giving away the TBEX 10 NY shirt. The rules will be quite simple, submit your top 5 unique things to do while in New York and from the entries we will choose the top five we think are the best, then we will have a poll on our facebook page for everyone to vote on the #1 top 5 unique things to do in NY!

We’re working out the details and will post the official contest on our blog today.

Guest Post: Vagabond in the Galapagos

Today, we want to tell you about two really fantastic people who are currently sailing in the south Pacific. Otto and Lili are two very good friends Alyson and I made while traveling through the southern Caribbean. Unlike us, they have their own boat named Vagabond. Its a 46′ Dix sailboat that Otto built himself. They left from South Africa on Vagabond over 3 years ago and have been sailing their way around the world ever since.

Otto, Lili, and Alyson reveling during the Colombian Independence Day Festivals in Cartagena.

Alyson and I last saw Otto and Lili in Cartagena, Colombia where we all spent several weeks enjoying festivals, playing backgammon tournaments and exploring the city. Since then Vagabond has sailed through the San Blas Islands of Panama and on through the canal. Yesterday, we received an email with some fun and amazing photos of their current location, the Galapagos Islands. We thought you guys would enjoy these!

    From Lili and Otto:

    “Hola amigos & amigas

Yesterday we went on a tour of the island and the attached pictures tell a story. We are incredibly impressed how things are done here – very eco friendly and tastefully laid out. Everywhere you go, there are signs carved out of wood that are very informative and loads of benches to rest ones weary feet from all the walking in the heat. We absolutely love it here – the wildlife is amazing and we are having such fun swimming and frolicking with the sea lions, especially the pups, in the water.

Today and tomorrow we will spend refuelling with diesel and then we are going to go diving in a place that is notorious for its viewing of hammerhead sharks, the following day we will take a ferry to the next island over called Santa Cruz where we will visit the Charles Darwin Scientific Research Centre and then we will just hang around for a few more days to enjoy the wonderful snorkelling and other sites. It’s so nice being a tourist again.”

At the Volcano Crater with our guide Carlos.
    Benches in the Park.
    Galapagos Land Tortoise.
    Galapagos Marine Iguana.

Thom & Sean’s Postcard Visits The Deep South

Just as Easter weekend was starting we found a little visitor all the way from London sitting at the table. This little guy was none other than a vintage postcard that Thom & Sean, from thomandsean.com, had sent us. Thom and Sean are currently packing up and getting ready as they head out on their ‘around the world’ trip this summer.

Here we are with our new little buddy as we welcome this Brit chap to South Alabama. Southern hospitality rules in this region and we did our best to meet this high standard. Here’s Mr. Postcard on his first day in town.

It was such a lovely southern spring day that we ended up sitting on the back porch sipping on sweet tea out of a mason’s jar and watching the humming birds fly around.

Thanks for Thom and Sean for such a fun gift! Check out their blog as they get ready to hit the road and backpack around the world for a year!

    We’re ALLLIIIIVE!!!!!

It’s been several several weeks longer than planned but we’re finally revealing our new home for Hop and Jaunt! As we have recently opened up our design agency arm also named Hop & Jaunt LLC we have combined all our interests and love into this new site. It’s still not 100% but it’s going to be getting there over the next week or so. And since we have been soo swamped with work for clients and with designing this site our blogs have been left in the corner. However now that the bulk of the site is out there and wobbling on it’s new baby feet we will dive right back into some more fun posts. We have a story about a back-yard zoo complete with lions and tigers from Alabama coming up, so stay tuned!
