It’s been a busy year here at Hop & Jaunt Creative. Now that the weather is finally cooling off, the crew is looking forward to having some fun over the holidays and spending some time with friends and loved ones.
But we’ve had a good time in 2016 working with some great people to design, illustrate, and make a variety fun items. So if you still need to do some last minute shopping for Christmas below are a few items that we helped create which can be purchased from our friends over at Dirty Coast.
PUPTOWN DOG TOYS
Our latest product to hit the shelves is Puptown Dog Toys. These adorable, New Orleans inspired dog toys are a great stocking stuffer for your furry, four-legged friends. Working with our friends at 52businesses we set out to make a dog toy this year. We ended up making 5. Benji the Beignet, Shrimpy da Poboy, Charles the Streetcar, Crabby Blue Crab, and the Voodoo Dog. Each plush toy includes an internal squeaker for more fun.
NEW ORLEANS LAPEL PINS
I really love how these Dirty Coast lapel pins came out. As an illustrator its always really cool to see work you’ve done turned into a physical product and it makes me super excited to see people wearing them around town. These soft enamel pins are great for jackets, hats, and bags. There is a big variety to choose from and they make great Dirty Santa gifts for friends, family, and co-workers.
THE SLEEPY ANIMALS
One of my most favorite co-creations is still “What the Sleepy Animals Do at the Audubon Zoo“. I still get a thrill when parents tell me that its their child’s favorite book. We’ve even had several shop owners tell us that The Sleepy Animals is well on its way to becoming the iconic New Orleans children’s book. Its a brilliantly written story by the authors and has pages of fun animal illustrations. Rhinos rock out. Flamingos flamenco. The hippos hip hop and tarantulas tango. Keep your youngsters wild about reading and let them discover why the animals at the zoo are so darned sleepy.
If you’re buying gifts for kids, Dirty Coast has plenty of t-shirts, onesies, and bibs to choose from. Living in the south we all know that December doesn’t always have the most Christmasy weather, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t feel cool in “A Snoball’s Chance” t-shirt. Other designs include a variety of NOLA ABC shirts, such as: A is for Alligator, B is for Beads and C is for Crawfish.
Keeping the ABC’s going for Kids, we collaborated with Dirty Coast this year to launch “A NOLA ABC Coloring and Activity Book“. This was a really fun illustration project to work on. I always dig it when I’m asked to draw things like Nutria, Alligators, and Mardi Gras Indians. Other products in the series also included ABC Flash Cards and Posters. Its a great way to teach your youngun’s the alphabet and learn all about New Orleans.
NEW ORLEANS ARCHITECTURE COASTERS
Appreciate the charm of New Orleans architecture from the comfort of your own couch and protect your coffee table at the same time. These designs from the Dirty Coast lapel pin series are also available as durable, heavy duty coasters. Sets include designs of shotgun houses, St. Louis Cathedral, Audubon Zoo, Cafe Du Monde, and many more.
If your walls also need a bit of color these architecture icons can also be purchased as framed prints.
NEW ORLEANS SETS THE BAR: VOL 1
Help your friends eat, drink, and be merry in the new year by giving them “New Orleans Sets the Bar: Vol. 1”, a cocktail book that we helped illustrate. Each book includes the history and recipe of 4 classic New Orleans’ cocktails. Add some Dirty Coast Architecture Coasters along with some Christmas Spirits and you’ve got a gift set that keeps giving all year long.
