MEET ALYSON Sage KILDAY

My name is Alyson Sage Kilday, and I’m the co-founder and Creative Director (as well as about a dozen other roles such as designer, accounts manager, coffee maker…). Since everyone always asks, let me introduce myself via the origin story of the name Hop & Jaunt.

Hop & Jaunt started small, small enough to fit into a backpack actually. The name comes from a travel blog my partner, John Clark IV, and I created to document the backpacking and sailing adventure we embarked on way back in 2008. For 9 months we sailed across the southern Caribbean, eventually ending up in a one room apartment with a balcony overlooking a neighborhood square in Cartagena, Colombia. While listening to the musicians strumming their guitars across the street, we were building up our design agency one freelance project at a time. We caught the entrepreneur bug that year and set our sights on New Orleans to set up shop and set down roots. 7 years, 2 dogs, 1000+ projects, 100+ clients, and countless memories creating with friends, mentors, peers, and family later, we’re more excited than ever to be on this journey.

FUN FACTS

I spent my childhood growing up in Nagasaki, Japan before traveling to and living in over a dozen countries including Argentina, Philippines, New Zealand, and the BVIs. I have a better southern accent in Japanese than in English, though I’ve spent most of my US time in the south.
